What Does OT7 / OT8 / OT9 Mean?
OT stands for “One True.”
It basically means “I love the whole group.”
In Korean fandoms, this is called “얼빠 / 올팬 (all-fan / all-member fan)”,
but in English-speaking fandom spaces, OT7 / OT8 / OT9 is more commonly used.
The number after OT refers to the number of members in the group.
- OT7 → supporting all 7 members
- OT8 → supporting all 8 members
- OT9 → supporting all 9 members
For example:
- BTS has 7 members → fans often say OT7
- Stray Kids has 8 members → fans say OT8
Can You Be OT7 and Still Have a Bias?
Are you wondering if being OT7 means you can’t have a bias anymore?
Don’t worry — it’s completely possible to have a specific bias while still being OT7 (meaning you love and support all 7 members).
In fact, many fans are like that.
It’s very common to have one (or a few) members you feel especially attached to.
So saying something like:
“I’m OT7, but my bias is ___.”
is totally normal!
Why Do Fans Use This Term?
1. To avoid comparing members
Some fans have one strong bias.
Others simply love the group as a whole — the chemistry, the teamwork, the story.
If you don’t want to choose or compare, OT7 / OT8 / OT9 is a way to express that.
2. To show “group love”
It’s also used to express full-group support.
For example, someone might say:
“Jimin-biased, but OT7.”
This means: “Jimin is my bias, but I love all the members.”
Many fans start with one member…
and then one day realize:
“Okay… I love everyone actually.”
That’s the OT moment.
Is OT7 Only Used for BTS?
You probably hear OT7 most often from ARMYs (BTS fans).
Since the BTS fandom is so large, some people wonder if “OT7” can only be used for BTS.
But no — OT7 can be used for many K-pop groups, not just BTS!
For example, fans also use OT7 for groups like:
- GOT7
- MONSTA X
- ENHYPEN
- iKON
Sometimes, if a member leaves a group, some fans may start using terms like “OT6” instead.
However, there are also fans who continue using “OT7” because they still love and support the former member as well.
OT7, OT8, OT9 Examples in K-pop
Fans use “OT + number” based on how many members are in a group.
Here are some common examples in K-pop:
- BTS → OT7
- GOT7 → OT7
- ENHYPEN → OT7
- Stray Kids → OT8
- TWICE → OT9
- Girls’ Generation (SNSD) → OT9
- SEVENTEEN → OT13
- BABYMONSTER → OT7
- ILLIT → OT5
- Hearts2Hearts (H2H) → OT8
- NewJeans → OT5
- IVE → OT6
- BOYNEXTDOOR → OT6
- aespa → OT4
Some fandoms may also change the number if a member leaves the group.
For example, some MONSTA X fans say “OT6,” while others still prefer “OT7” because they continue supporting former member Wonho as well.
For very large groups like NCT, some fans use terms like OT23 or OT26 to support all members across units.
(Honestly though… how many members does NCT even have now? 😂
I personally don’t think I’ve ever seen someone actually call themselves OT23. If you are OT23, let me know!)
Use OT7 / OT8 / OT9 in Your Social Media Bio (Copy/Paste OK)
Here are simple bio lines you can use.
(These examples are for BTS, but just switch in your group!)
- Bias: Jimin | OT7 always ✦
- Yoongi is my bias, but let’s be real… OT7.
- Bias: Jin. Behavior: OT7.
- OT7, but SUGA owns my heart.
Add one to your profile to show your group love 🫶
