Category 1: Bias & Stan Culture Terms
These words describe your relationship with idols — who you love, how you stan, and the type of fan identity you have in the K-POP community.
Bias
Meaning: your favorite member
Example:
- My bias is Taehyung.
- Who’s your bias?

Bias wrecker
Meaning:
A member who unexpectedly attracts your attention and makes you question your original bias.
Example:
- Jungkook is my bias wrecker.
- Stop bias wrecking me!!

Ult Bias
Meaning:
Your ultimate favorite member — the one above all other biases.
Example:
- Taemin is my ult bias forever.
- I have many biases, but Chaewon is my ult.
Bias Line
Meaning:
Multiple members you love the most — your top bias list.
Example:
- My bias line is Jimin and Yoongi.
- Who’s in your bias line?
Multi-bias
Meaning:
Loving multiple members equally instead of having just one main bias.
Example:
- I can’t pick just one… I’m multi-bias.
- Being multi-bias is painful and chaotic.
Switching Bias / Bias Switch
Meaning:
When your bias unexpectedly changes to another member.
Example:
- Help, I think I just switched biases…
- I was sure my bias was Sana, but Momo made me switch.
Bias Group
Meaning:
The main group you stan or love the most.
Example:
- My bias group is TXT.
- Do you have a bias group?
Hard Bias / Soft Bias
Meaning:
- Hard bias: intense, loyal fan energy, emotional (sometimes chaotic).
- Soft bias: gentle, cute, supportive energy.
Example:
- I’m a hard bias for Mingyu.
- I soft bias Hanni — she’s adorable.
Hard Stan / Soft Stan
Meaning:
Similar to hard/soft bias but refers to your overall fan style, not a single member.
Example:
- I used to soft stan, but now I’m a full hard stan.
- soft stans love cute content, hard stans love everything. 😅
Solo Stan
Meaning:
A fan who only supports one member, not the whole group.
Example:
- Are you a solo stan or group stan?
- She only supports one member — she’s a solo stan.
Multistan
Meaning:
A fan of multiple groups or multiple fandoms.
Example:
- Being a multistan is expensive.
- I love BTS, IVE, and NCT — I’m definitely a multistan.
OT7/OT8/OT9
Meaning:
“One True 7/8/9” → supporting all members
Example:
- I’m OT7, but today Jungkook hit different.
If you love every member in a group, you should definitely add OT◯ to your SNS profile.
The number after OT = the number of members in the group.
For example, BTS = 7, SEVENTEEN = 13.

올팬 / All-fan
Meaning:
A fan who loves every member equally — no bias, just full-group love.
Example:
- I don’t have a bias… I’m an all-fan.
- Being an all-fan means every comeback is chaos 😭💜

Category 2: Korean-Origin Fandom Words
These expressions come from Korean and are often used by idols and Korean fans.
Even international fans use them, so they’re useful to know.
막내 / Maknae
Meaning:
The youngest member of the group.
Example:
- The maknae is always so chaotic 😂
- Who’s the maknae in your bias group?

형 / Hyung
Meaning:
Used by males when addressing an older male (friendly, brother-like term).
Example:
- He called the member “hyung” and it was so cute.
- In the group, everyone treats him like their hyung.

누나 / Noona
Meaning:
Used by males to address an older female (friendly and a little cute).
Example:
- He said “noonaaaa” with aegyo 😭
- International fans love “noona line” jokes.

오빠 / Oppa
Meaning:
Used by females to address an older male.
Often sounds affectionate — common in fandom culture.
Example:
- She shouted “oppa!!” at the concert 😂
- Oppa line is always so funny during V Lives.
언니 / Unnie
Meaning:
Used by females when addressing an older female, like a sister.
Example:
- She kept calling the member “unnie” during the fansign.
- The unnie line has the best chemistry.

Category 3: Merch, Streaming & Fan Activities
These terms relate to albums, photocards, streaming, concerts, and fan events.
They’re commonly used when participating in active fandom life.
애교 / Aegyo
Meaning:
A cute or playful behavior often used by idols, acting adorable on purpose.
Example:
- His aegyo is too powerful!!
- She did aegyo during the fansign and everyone screamed.

Birthday Ad
Meaning:
Birthday fan advertisements placed in subway stations, cafés, billboards, or online for idols.
Example:
- I want to join the birthday ad project for Karina.
- Did you see Taeyong’s birthday ad at Hongdae station?

Photocard (PC)
Meaning:
A collectible card featuring a member’s photo, included in albums, merch, or sold separately.
Example:
- I pulled my bias in the album! Best day ever.
- Do you trade photocards?
comeback
Meaning:
the return with a new release
Example:
- Their comeback is next Monday!
Killing part
Meaning:
the most iconic part of a song
Example:
- Her killing part is insane.

Teaser
Meaning:
short preview video
Example:
- Did you watch the teaser? It’s crazy!

사생 / Sasaeng
Meaning:
An obsessive fan who invades an idol’s privacy.
This word has a negative meaning.
Example:
- Sasaeng behavior is NOT okay.
- The company released a warning to sasaengs again.

최애 / Choi-ae
Meaning:
Literally “favorite.” Used like “bias” to refer to your #1 favorite member.
Example:
- My choi-ae is Yeonjun.
- It’s hard to choose my choi-ae… they’re all perfect.

스밍 / Streaming
Meaning:
Streaming songs (Spotify, YouTube, etc.) to support the group’s charts and comeback.
Example:
- Don’t forget streaming goals for today!
- I stayed up all night streaming the new album 😭
팬사 / Fansign
Meaning:
A fan meeting event where selected fans meet idols, talk briefly, and receive autographs.
Example:
- I finally won a fansign entry!!
- She met her ult at a fansign 😭✨
