You’ll even see people write things like “Bias: ___” in their social media profiles.

What Does “Bias” Mean in K-POP
In K-POP fandom, Bias means “your favorite member” or “the member you support the most.”
For example, if your favorite BTS member is Jimin, you can say:
“My bias is Jimin.”
A bias doesn’t have to be just one person. You can have multiple!
For instance, your BTS biases might be Jimin and V, while your SEVENTEEN biases could be Woozi and Hoshi.
All of them can be called your biases.
How Fans Use “Bias” in Conversation
Here are some common examples of how fans use the word:
- “Who’s your bias?”
- “My bias is Jungkook from BTS!”
Writing It in Your Social Media Profile
Fans often introduce their bias directly in their bios.
For example:
- Bias: Taeyong 💎 | Bias Wrecker: Mark 🐯
- UB: Lisa 🌟 | Group Bias: BLACKPINK 🖤💗
Here, UB stands for Ultimate Bias, your number-one favorite.
Group Bias refers to your favorite group.
Related Terms: Bias Wrecker, Bias Line, 최애 (Choi-ae)
Several terms have been derived from Bias.
- Ultimate Bias: Your absolute favorite. You can have many biases, but there’s only one Ultimate Bias.
- Bias Line: The combination of all your biases.
- Double Bias / Multiple Bias: When you have two or more biases.
- Bias Wrecker: A member who tempts you to “switch” from your bias. (See my other article for a detailed explanation!)
In Korean fandom, you’ll also hear the word 최애 (Choi-ae), which usually refers to your Ultimate Bias.
Bias vs. “Oshi” in Japanese Fandom
In Japanese, the equivalent of Bias is “Oshi” (推し).
However, there’s a slight difference:
- Oshi can be used for idols, anime characters, actors, YouTubers—basically anyone you support.
- Bias, on the other hand, comes from the English word meaning “preference” or “favoritism,” and is used almost exclusively within the K-POP fandom.
Conclusion: Why “Bias” Is a Must-Know Term
So that’s the meaning of Bias!
